Thank you for your interest in volunteering at HOMES Clinic. As a student-managed clinic, we do our best to provide quality patient care in an environment where you, as a student, can learn the most. Because many students participate each year, we ask that you read about our scheduling policies below.
Managers: HOMES Clinic is always looking for students that are interesting in managing at the clinic. To become a manager, you must train a minimum of three times with a current member of our team of managers. Please request the "Manager Trainee" position until after the third time, at which you may request the "Manager" position.*
Basic Science Students: Scheduling for the eight Basic Science student positions (4 for BMC, 4 for UTH) is on a first come first serve basis. If your school's positions are full, you can simply wait until the week before your requested date and send another request. If the total number of positions is not full, we will gladly give you a slot from the other school.
Clinical Students: Scheduling for the four Clinical Student positions (2 for BMC, 2 for UTH) is similar to that of Basic Science students with one exception: students receiving credit for an elective course (i.e. LACE program) may have scheduling priority. We sincerely will do our best to accommodate all requests from all schools with this matter. As detailed above, if your school's positions are full, you can simply wait until the week before your requested date and send another request. If the total number of positions is not full, we will gladly give you the slot from the other school.
Pharmacy Students: This year, we are trying to expand the HOMES Clinic to UHCOP organizations in order to distribute opportunity to all students more fairly. Every organization will be picking particular Sundays throughout the semester to serve the Clinic and sending their members. Please contact the respective organizations you are a part of to join as a volunteer. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact your HOMES Representative, Avani Desai.
Social Work Students: Please contact Cathryn Bushman prior to requesting a date. Thank you.
Remember: If you cannot attend the clinic on your scheduled date, it is your responsibility to find a replacement or notify the HOMES clinic of your cancellation. Because we rely on the entire clinical team to participate in the patient encounter, we require that you contact us no later than one week before your scheduled time. Thank you for your understanding.
* We reserve the right to modify, amend, cancel, or extend this policy based on the individual's ability to fulfill the responsibilities of the manager position.
